How do I split a PDF into multiple files?

How to use Split PDF File
- Click Select PDF file to upload the document you want to split.
- Choose a mode: By ranges, Every N pages, Every page, or Select pages.
- Enter your ranges (for example 1-3, 5, 8-10) or tap the thumbnails you want, then tick Merge all ranges into one PDF if you want a single file instead.

Four ways to split a PDF
Splitting is the opposite of merging: instead of joining files, you break one PDF apart into smaller pieces. FixDoks offers four modes, so pick whichever matches how you think about the document.
By ranges
Type ranges like "1-3, 5, 8-10" and each range becomes its own PDF. This suits a scanned bundle where you already know which pages belong to which section, for example a set of invoices scanned into one file. If you'd rather have one combined file with just those pages, in that order, tick Merge all ranges into one PDF instead of getting separate files.
Every N pages
Set a fixed chunk size and the PDF is cut into equal pieces: every 2 pages, every 5 pages, and so on. The last chunk may be shorter if the page count doesn't divide evenly. This is handy for splitting a long scanned book into equal parts for sharing.
Every page
Turns each page of the PDF into its own single-page file. Useful when you need to feed pages one at a time into another tool, or attach individual pages to different emails.
Select pages
Tap thumbnails to build a custom set of pages, then get one PDF with just those pages. This mode is closer to picking pages by hand than typing a range, and works well on a touchscreen.

Downloads
If splitting produces more than one file, they are packaged as a single ZIP so you don't have to download each one separately. Files are named after the source, for example "report-pages-1-3.pdf", so you can tell at a glance what each piece contains.
Common problems
- Password-protected PDF. Since splitting changes the file, a locked PDF needs to be unlocked first at unlock PDF.
- Range typed wrong. Ranges should use hyphens for a span and commas between separate pages or ranges, such as "2-4, 7".
- Need the opposite, one PDF from many pieces. Use merge PDF to put files back together.
