How do I convert PowerPoint to PDF?
To convert PowerPoint to PDF, upload your PPT, PPTX or ODP file to FixDoks's PowerPoint to PDF tool and click Convert to PDF. Why convert a presentation to PDF
A PowerPoint file needs PowerPoint (or a compatible app) to open, can be large, and may look different if the viewer is missing your fonts. A PDF opens in any browser or phone, keeps your design exactly, and is much easier to email, print as handouts, or upload to a college portal or LMS. It is also the safest way to share a deck with clients: nobody can accidentally move your slides around.
What the PDF contains
- One page per slide, in the slide size of your deck (16:9 widescreen or 4:3)
- Text as real, searchable text, with your fonts and colours
- Pictures, icons, SmartArt, charts and tables
- Slide backgrounds and theme graphics
- Hyperlinks you added to text or shapes
What a PDF cannot hold
Animations, slide transitions, embedded videos and sound are PowerPoint features, so they do not carry over. Animated content is shown in its final state. Speaker notes are not included. Hidden slides are skipped, so unhide any slide you want in the PDF.
Tips for a smaller, sharper PDF
- Presentations with many large photos can produce big PDFs. Use Compress PDF afterwards if you need to email the file or meet an upload limit.
- If you used a special font from the internet, embed it in PowerPoint (File > Options > Save > Embed fonts) so the PDF uses it.
- Google Slides users can download the deck as PPTX and convert here, or use File > Download > PDF inside Slides.
Old PPT files
Presentations saved in PowerPoint 97 to 2003 format (PPT and PPS) convert just as well as modern PPTX files. If you want to keep editing an old deck in a current version, convert it with PPT to PPTX.
Handouts and printing
Want several slides per sheet for printed handouts? Convert to PDF first, then use Multiple Pages per Sheet to put 2, 4 or 6 slides on each page. This saves paper and is how many teachers and trainers share notes. For a college submission or a client proposal where a portal limits file size, compress the PDF after converting; photo-heavy decks often shrink a lot.

Slide size and paper
Widescreen slides produce landscape pages in a 16:9 shape. They look perfect on screens; when printed on A4 there is white space above and below. That is normal and nothing is cropped.
