How do I scan a QR code online?
To scan a QR code online, open FixDoks's QR Code Scanner and click Scan with camera, or upload a photo or screenshot. The camera feed and images are read entirely in your browser and never uploaded. The contents, such as a link, Wi-Fi details or a contact card, appear before you open anything.

How to use QR Code Scanner
- To scan a code in front of you, click Scan with camera and allow camera access.
- To read a code from a photo or screenshot, click Upload image, drop the file, or paste a screenshot with Ctrl+V.
- The contents appear below: links, Wi-Fi details, UPI payment details or contact cards are shown clearly.
- Click Copy to copy the content, or Open link if you trust the address.
Scan QR codes without installing an app
This scanner works in any modern browser on phones, tablets and computers. Use the camera for a code on a poster, product or screen, or upload an image when the code is in a screenshot, a PDF you have saved as an image, or a photo someone sent you on WhatsApp. That second case is where a browser scanner helps most: you cannot point your phone's camera at a QR code that is on the same phone's screen, but you can take a screenshot and upload it here.
See what is inside before you open it
Many camera apps open links immediately. FixDoks shows you the full contents first, and recognises common formats:
- Links: the full web address, with a warning if it does not use https.
- UPI payment codes: the UPI ID that will receive the money, the payee name, amount and note. Check this before paying, especially if a code looks tampered with.
- Wi-Fi codes: the network name, password and security type. Useful for connecting a laptop or smart TV that cannot scan.
- Contact cards (vCard): name, phone, email and company.
- Email, phone and SMS codes, and plain text.
Tips for a successful scan
- Fill most of the frame with the code, but keep the whole code in view, including its white border.
- Hold the phone steady, about 15 to 25 cm away. Move closer for small codes.
- Avoid glare. Tilt the phone slightly if light reflects off glossy paper or a screen.
- For uploads, a sharp, well-lit image works best. Crop the image around the code if there are other codes or a lot of background.
- Inverted codes (light on dark) are supported for uploaded images.
Camera not working?
The browser asks for permission the first time. If you clicked Block, open your browser's site settings and allow the camera for this site, then reload. On iPhone, Safari needs camera access enabled under Settings, Safari, Camera. If another app such as a video call is using the camera, close it first. You can always fall back to taking a photo with your camera app and uploading it.
Private scanning
Everything happens on your device. The camera feed and your images are processed in the browser and are never uploaded. Where your browser offers a built-in barcode detector (Chrome on Android and macOS, for example), FixDoks uses it for speed; otherwise it uses the open source jsQR decoder, which works everywhere.
Be careful with unknown codes
QR codes are sometimes used for scams: a fake code pasted over a parking meter or a shop's payment QR, or a code in an email that leads to a fake login page. Read the address before opening a link. For payments, check that the UPI ID and name match who you mean to pay. And remember that you never need to scan a code or enter your UPI PIN to receive money.
