How it works
An image segmentation model reads the photo and estimates, for every pixel, how likely it is to belong to the subject. That estimate becomes a soft mask. The subject is then drawn over a solid colour using that mask, so hair and soft edges blend into the new colour naturally.
Choosing the right format
For a solid colour background, JPG is usually the right choice: it is widely accepted by upload forms and is much smaller than PNG. Pick PNG if you want to edit the photo further without any quality loss.
Getting a natural look
- Start with an evenly lit photo. Strong coloured light from the old background (for example a green wall) can tint the edges of hair.
- Pick a colour close to the original background brightness for the most natural edges.
- If a thin halo appears around hair, a slightly darker or lighter shade of the same colour often hides it.
Product photos
