How do I fill and sign a PDF that has no fillable fields?

How to use Fill and Sign PDF
- Click Select PDF file or drop the scanned or printed form onto the box.
- Click Text and tap anywhere on the page to type, or click Tick or Cross to mark checkboxes.
- Click Date to stamp today's date, or pick another date and format.
- Click Signature, draw, type or upload it, then drag it onto the signature line.

For forms that are not fillable
Many PDF forms you receive by email or download from a website are really just a scanned page or a printed layout saved as a PDF. There is nothing to click into, no fields to tab through, because the form was never built with real fillable fields in the first place. FixDoks solves this differently from a normal form filler: instead of detecting fields, it lets you type, tick and sign directly on top of the page, wherever you need to, as if you were writing on a printed copy with a pen.
Type anywhere
Click Text, tap the spot on the page where an answer belongs, and type. You can add as many text boxes as the form needs: your name, address, reference numbers, or a short answer in a blank line. Each text box can be moved afterwards if it lands slightly off the line, and deleted if you change your mind.
Tick boxes, dates and a signature
For yes/no questions and checklists, drop a tick or a cross mark exactly where the box is printed. For a date field, add a date stamp in DD/MM/YYYY, MM/DD/YYYY, or a written format such as 26 Sep 2026, whichever matches the form. When the form asks for a signature, use the same signature tool as the main sign PDF page: draw it with a mouse or finger, type your name in a handwriting style, or upload a photo of your signature on paper. Signatures you save are reused across future documents.
What if the PDF already has fillable fields?
Some forms, especially official government and bank PDFs, are built with real fillable fields: text boxes, checkboxes, radio buttons and dropdowns that already know where they belong and validate what you type. If your PDF has these, use fill PDF form instead. It detects the fields automatically and lays them out as a normal web form, which is faster and keeps the layout exact. This page is built for the opposite case: a plain, non-fillable page where you place your own text and marks by hand.
Page navigation and finishing
Multi-page forms can be navigated page by page, with zoom to check small print before you place text on it. Everything you add, text, ticks, dates and the signature, is embedded onto the page as you save, and the original page content underneath is not altered. Names, headings and pre-printed labels stay exactly where they were.
A note on legal weight
Filling in a form this way is the digital equivalent of writing on a printed page and signing it by hand, and it is treated as a simple electronic signature. That is enough for most everyday paperwork, but some documents have stricter legal requirements.
