Choosing the blur strength
A light blur keeps the setting recognisable while softening details, similar to a real lens. A strong blur turns the background into soft shapes of colour. The strength scales with the photo size, so the same setting looks similar on a small and a large photo. For privacy, use a strong setting and zoom in on the result to check that text in the background is no longer readable.
How it differs from a real camera
A real lens blurs objects more the further they are from the focus point. This tool applies the same blur to the whole background, which is simpler and usually looks good for portraits and products. Objects that touch the subject, like a chair the person is sitting on, may be treated as background and blurred too.
