How to use UPI QR Code Generator

- Optionally enter a fixed amount and a note, such as an invoice number. Leave the amount empty for a counter QR where customers type the amount.

- Make a small test payment to yourself from another phone before you display it.
How a UPI QR code works
Every UPI app in India, including Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM and bank apps, understands the same payment link format defined by NPCI:
upi://pay?pa=name@bank&pn=Name&am=499.00&cu=INR&tn=Invoice%201042
- pa is the payee address, your UPI ID. This is where the money goes.
- pn is the payee name shown to the customer.
- am is the amount in rupees. If it is left out, the customer types the amount.
- cu is the currency, always INR.
- tn is a transaction note that appears in both parties' history.
FixDoks builds this link from what you type, checks the UPI ID format and turns it into a QR code. The money goes straight from the customer's bank to yours through UPI. FixDoks is never involved in the payment and never sees it.
Where to find your UPI ID
- Google Pay: tap your photo, your UPI ID is shown under your name.
- PhonePe: tap your profile picture, then look for UPI ID in the payment settings section.
- Paytm: tap your profile, the UPI ID is shown under UPI and payment settings.
- BHIM and bank apps: usually on the home or profile screen.
A UPI ID always has one @ sign: a handle before it and your bank or app's code after it. The tool rejects IDs with spaces or missing parts, which prevents the most common printing mistakes.
Fixed amount or open amount?
Leave the amount empty for a QR that sits on your shop counter permanently. The customer scans, types the bill amount and pays. Set a fixed amount when you send a QR for one specific bill: on an invoice, a fee receipt, a donation drive with a fixed contribution, or a WhatsApp message to a customer. The amount then appears already filled in, which avoids typing errors. Add the invoice or order number in the note so you can match payments later.
Printable card for your shop
With the card option on, the PNG includes a header line, the QR code, your name and your UPI ID in large text, plus the amount if you set one. Print it on A5 or A6 paper and place it where customers can scan without leaning over the counter. Laminating it protects it from water and dust. The SVG option contains just the QR, for use in your own flyer, menu or invoice design.
Personal UPI ID or merchant account?
This tool creates a standard UPI QR for any UPI ID. For a small shop or freelancer receiving occasional payments, a personal UPI ID works. Banks and payment apps may limit or question large volumes of business payments into a personal account, so a growing business should consider a merchant or business UPI account from its bank or payment app, which also gives payment alerts and settlement reports. You can use the same generator with a merchant UPI ID.
Stay safe
Remember that scanning a QR code is only ever needed to pay money, never to receive it. If someone asks you to scan a code or enter your UPI PIN to receive a refund or prize, it is a scam. For shop owners, check your printed QR from time to time to make sure nobody has pasted a different code over it.
