How do I record my voice online?
To record your voice online, open FixDoks's Voice Recorder, choose your microphone, click Start recording, speak, then click Stop. You can pause and resume, and listen back before saving. The recording stays in your browser's memory until you download it as WebM, M4A or MP3, so nothing is sent to a server during recording.

How to use Voice Recorder
- Choose your microphone if you have more than one, and leave noise suppression on for speech.
- Click Start recording and allow microphone access when your browser asks.
- Speak. Use Pause to take a break, and Stop when you are finished.
- Listen back, then download, or click Convert to MP3 for a universally playable file.
A simple recorder in your browser
FixDoks Voice Recorder uses your browser's built-in recording feature, so there is nothing to install and the recording stays on your device. It works in Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on computers, Android phones and iPhones.
Recording tips
- Get close. Keep the microphone 15 to 30 cm from your mouth. The level meter should move clearly when you speak but not hit the top constantly.
- Pick a quiet, soft room. Curtains, carpets and furniture reduce echo far better than any software.
- Use noise suppression for speech. The option turns on the browser's echo cancellation, noise suppression and automatic gain. Turn it off when recording music or instruments, where it can make the sound thin or pumping.
- Choose the right microphone. If you use a headset or USB mic, select it from the list. Device names appear after you allow microphone access once.
Pause and resume
Pause stops the recording without ending it, so you can take a breath, check notes or skip a mistake. Resume continues in the same file. The timer shows only the recorded time.
File formats
The browser records in its native format: WebM with Opus in Chrome, Edge and Firefox, and M4A in Safari. Both have excellent quality at small sizes, about 1 MB per minute. For the widest compatibility, click Convert to MP3; the MP3 plays in every app and device and is what most upload forms and transcription services accept.

Edit afterwards
Remove the silence at the start and end with Audio Cutter, or convert to WAV, M4A or other formats with the Audio Converter.
Private
The audio is recorded into your browser's memory and only saved when you click Download. Nothing is sent to a server. Closing or reloading the page before downloading discards the recording, so save it first.
Troubleshooting
If the level meter stays flat, check that the right microphone is selected and that it is not muted in your system settings. On a laptop, make sure no other app, such as a video call, is holding the microphone. If the recording sounds robotic or cuts out, turn off noise suppression and try again, and close other heavy tabs so the browser has enough processing power.
