SSC CHSL 2026 Application Season: Dates, Steps, Correction

Who can apply how
Applications go through the new SSC website, ssc.gov.in, or the mySSC mobile app, which the notice says you can download from the Google Play Store. The old ssc.nic.in OTR does not work on the new website. If you have not made a new One Time Registration (OTR), do that first, since the application form only opens after it.
The notice advises you to choose Aadhaar based authentication during OTR. Candidates who do it are not rejected on the ground that their photo or signature does not meet the prescribed standards, and they are not asked to bring a recent photo and original photo ID to the exam venue.
Step by step: the application season
- Complete OTR on ssc.gov.in with Aadhaar authentication. Do this before you plan anything else.
- Log in on ssc.gov.in or the mySSC app and open the CHSL 2026 application.
- Fill in your personal, education and category details, then choose your exam centres.
- Capture your photo live when the form asks. You are not expected to have a photo file for this. Our guide to SSC live photo capture covers the framing.

- Use the Preview or Print option to check every field, then submit.
- Pay the fee by 8 October if you are not exempt, and check the Payment Status link on your login screen.

Fee: what you pay and who is exempt
The application fee is Rs 100. Women candidates and SC, ST, PwBD and eligible ex-servicemen candidates are exempt. Payment is online through BHIM UPI, net banking, or Visa, MasterCard, Maestro and RuPay debit cards. If the fee is not received, the form shows as Incomplete and is summarily rejected, and there is no refund after payment.
The correction window, explained
After the closing date, SSC opens a three-day window, 14 to 16 October 2026, to change your application data. The rules are strict:
- Only candidates whose complete application and fee were received in time can correct.
- You can correct and re-submit twice. The first correction costs Rs 200 and the second Rs 500, for every candidate regardless of category or gender.
- Correction charges are paid online and are not refunded.
- The latest corrected form, once its charge is received, becomes the valid one and older ones are cancelled. If the charge does not reach SSC, your earlier application stays valid.
- After the window closes, no change is allowed, and requests by post, email or in person are rejected.
Treat the first correction as your one planned fix. Collect every mistake you can find in the printout, fix them all at once, and keep the Rs 500 second correction only for an emergency.
A simple week-by-week plan
Now to the first week of October
Finish OTR, apply, and download the printout. Do not wait for the last few days, since the notice itself warns that heavy load on the website near the closing date can lead to disconnection.
7 to 8 October
Submit by 7 October, 23:00, and clear the fee by 8 October, 23:00. Confirm the status shows the form as complete, not Incomplete.
14 to 16 October
Read the printout again for errors in name, date of birth, category, centres and signature. Correct in one go and pay the charge.
One thing the notice says twice
The notice gives the signature size as about 6.0 x 2.0 cm in the main text (para 9.6) but about 4.0 x 2.0 cm in Annexure-IV. Both are wide, short shapes, so crop tightly, keep the file at 10-20KB, and check the preview on the form. If the preview flags a size problem, fix that file and upload it again before you submit, rather than hoping the correction window will catch it.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Skipping Aadhaar authentication and then failing photo or signature checks.
- Paying the fee but not checking Payment Status, so the form stays Incomplete.
- Taking a photo of an old photograph on the screen. The notice says applications where a pre-existing photo is captured are rejected, unless Aadhaar authentication was done.
- Waiting for the correction window to complete a form you have not submitted. Only submitted, paid applications can be corrected.
- Assuming the exam date is fixed. The notice says the Tier-I and Tier-II schedules will be notified later.
Checklist before you close the tab
- OTR done on the new site, Aadhaar authenticated.
- Live photo clear, no cap, mask or glasses.
- Signature JPG in the 10-20KB range.
- Fee paid if not exempt, status checked.
- Printout saved, with a note of anything you might correct on 14 to 16 October.
