How do I crop a photo to a specific shape or size?
To crop a photo, open FixDoks's Crop Image tool, choose a fixed ratio such as 1:1, 16:9 or passport 35 by 45 mm, or drag the box freely, then drag the handles to adjust it. Click Crop image to download the result straight away. The crop is taken from the full resolution original and processed entirely in your browser.

How to use Crop Image
- Click Select image and pick a photo. It opens with a crop box on top.
- Drag the box to move it and drag the round handles to resize it. Pick an aspect ratio to lock the shape, or type an exact width and height in pixels.
- Use Rotate if the photo is sideways.
- Click Crop image. The cropped file downloads straight away and you can crop again.
Crop to the shape you need
Cropping removes the edges of a photo so the subject fills the frame. It is the quickest way to improve a picture: cut away a messy background, straighten the composition, or make a photo fit a profile picture or banner slot.

With a ratio selected, the box keeps its shape while you resize it. Choose Free to drag each side independently. You can also type an exact width and height in pixels, which is handy when a website asks for a specific crop size.
Full resolution output
The preview on screen is scaled to fit, but the crop is taken from your original full-size image, so no detail is lost. The output keeps the original format by default. Choose PNG if you need lossless output, or JPG for the smallest file.
Cropping on a phone
The crop handles are large enough to drag with a finger, and the box can be moved with one finger too. Everything happens in the browser, so it works on Android and iPhone without installing an app.

Composition tips
The faint grid inside the box divides it into thirds. Placing the subject's eyes or the horizon along one of the lines usually looks more balanced than dead centre. For product photos, leave an even margin around the item. For documents photographed on a table, crop tightly to the page edges so the background does not waste space or confuse text recognition apps.
If a photo is slightly tilted, straighten it with the rotate tool first, then crop. Cropping a tilted photo leaves the tilt in place.
Cropping screenshots
Screenshots often include status bars, notifications and navigation buttons that add nothing. Crop to the part that matters before sharing, and pick PNG output to keep text perfectly sharp.
