How do I blur a face or number plate in a photo?
To blur part of a photo, open FixDoks's Blur Image tool, add your photo, choose Blur or Pixelate and a strength, then drag a rectangle or paint with the brush over each face, number plate or piece of text. Click Download image when done. The blur is applied to the pixels in your browser and the file is never uploaded.

How to use Blur Image
- Click Select image and choose the photo or screenshot.
- Choose Blur or Pixelate and set the strength.
- With Rectangle, drag a box over each area to hide. With Brush, paint over it. Use Undo if needed.
- Click Download image.
What should I blur before sharing a photo?
Before you post a photo or screenshot, check it for details that should stay private: faces of children or passers-by, vehicle number plates, house numbers, phone numbers, email addresses, bank account and card numbers, Aadhaar or PAN numbers, QR codes, boarding passes and addresses on parcels. This tool lets you cover them in seconds.
Blur or pixelate?
Blur looks softer and suits faces and backgrounds. Pixelate turns the area into large blocks, which is the classic look for censored faces and number plates. For text and numbers, use a high strength with either effect. Light blur on large text can sometimes still be read, so check the result zoomed in.
Rectangle and brush
The rectangle tool is fastest for text, number plates and screenshots: drag a box and the area is hidden. The brush is better for irregular shapes, such as a face at an angle or a tattoo. Change the brush size for fine work. Each action can be undone.
Screenshots of chats and payments
When sharing a WhatsApp chat, UPI payment screenshot or bank SMS as proof, blur the other person's name, number and profile photo, and any transaction or reference IDs you do not need to show.
Truly removed, not just covered
The blur is applied to the pixels and saved into a new image file, so the hidden details cannot be recovered by removing a layer, as can happen with some PDF or document editors. For the strongest protection on sensitive numbers, use pixelate at high strength, which destroys the information completely.
Photos are edited on your device and never uploaded. Metadata such as GPS location is not copied into the saved image.
Before sharing a document photo
When you send a photo of an ID card, bill or certificate to someone who needs only part of it, blur everything else. For Aadhaar, many services accept a masked number showing only the last four digits; you can hide the first eight here, or download a masked Aadhaar from UIDAI.
Blur for aesthetics
You can also use the brush with low strength to soften a distracting background behind a person, or apply blur to the whole image to create a soft backdrop for text in a poster or story. Pixelate at low strength gives a retro mosaic look.
Check the whole photo
Reflections in windows, sunglasses and mirrors, and papers on a desk in the background, often reveal more than expected. Zoom in and check before sharing.
