How do I type using my voice?
Open FixDoks's Speech to Text tool, choose your language such as English (India) or Hindi, click Start listening and allow microphone access. Speak clearly and your words appear as editable text, with commands like comma and full stop for punctuation. It works in Chrome, Edge and Safari, then copy or download the result.

How to use Speech to Text (Voice Typing)
- Choose the language you will speak, for example English (India) or Hindi.
- Click Start listening and allow microphone access when your browser asks.
- Speak clearly. Say "comma", "full stop" or "new line" to add punctuation.
- Click Stop listening, then edit, copy or download your text.
Voice typing in your browser
Speaking is usually much faster than typing, especially on a phone. Use this tool to draft emails, notes, WhatsApp messages, essays or social posts by talking, then tidy up the text and copy it wherever you need it. The text box stays editable while you speak, so you can fix a word without stopping.
Supported browsers
- Google Chrome on Windows, Mac, Linux, Chromebook and Android: supported.
- Microsoft Edge: supported.
- Safari on iPhone, iPad and Mac: supported in recent versions.
- Firefox: not supported yet. You will see a message instead of the start button.
If your browser is not supported, most phone keyboards (Gboard, SwiftKey, the iPhone keyboard) have a microphone key that does voice typing anywhere.
Where your voice goes
Be aware that the speech recognition is done by your browser, not by FixDoks. Chrome sends the audio to Google's speech servers to be transcribed, Edge uses Microsoft's service, and Safari uses Apple's speech recognition, which may run on your device or on Apple servers. FixDoks does not receive or store your audio or your text. Avoid dictating passwords or very sensitive information with any online speech service.
Languages
Pick the language before you start: English (India, US or UK), Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Punjabi, Urdu and several international languages. Choosing English (India) instead of English (US) noticeably improves accuracy for Indian accents and Indian names and places. Hindi is written out in Devanagari.

These English commands work best in English modes. Untick the option if you want the words written out instead.
Tips for better accuracy
- Use a headset or earphones with a microphone, and move away from fans and traffic.
- Speak in full sentences at a normal pace. Pausing briefly between sentences helps.
- Names and technical terms may come out wrong. Fix them in the box afterwards, or use find and replace for repeated mistakes.
- Listening continues through short pauses. If you stop talking for a long time, the browser may end the session; just click Start again and new text is added to the end.
The finished text is yours to edit: fix names, add headings, then copy it into an email, a document or a chat, or download it as a .txt file.
